Day 8: Pinar de Charmatin/ Meeting the Roommates

Yesterday, I had nothing to do since my mom left, so I slept in a bit, then my other flatmate who was leaving the next day, invited me to the house of a friend I had met a few nights before. We met up with Arturo, my German friend from Berlin, and headed out. First, Gloria-Paz had to get money from the bank which took like 15 mins, then we stopped at a cafe so they could talk with a friend for like 40 mins, then we finally got on the metro which took another 20 mins. Finally we got to Pinar de Charmatin, and got to her friend's apartment. The friend, whose name is Pia, cooked us lunch and then we went down to the pool. She also had with her, a cute, cute, cute lab puppy named Gandalf haha who is a future seeing guide dog. He's still in training, and a bit stubborn at times but sweet and he even had a cute little vest (so he could go into areas where pets normally aren't allowed).

We basically lounged by the pool, chatted and then around 6, Pia and her friend Marta, took Arturo to the airport and Gloria-Paz and I took the metro. She went shopping for some souvenirs and I went to the super market.

Daisy had called me to help out some girls with an abono (monthly pass for the Metro) and that's when I found out we had two new roommates, Lucia and Margharita from Colombia, who are studying fashion. Cathy, I wonder if you know them? :) Their uncle brought them to the dorm and then said goodbye, and Daisy and I went to the store to buy stuff for dinner. We decided to cook little salmon cutlets with an herb seasoning and throw it on some pasta. It turned out pretty good (cooked it myself) and we had our first meal. We gave some dessert to Lucia and Margharita and Gloria-Paz joined us at the table as well. It was cute, our first little sit down meal. :)

Skyped the family last night and mom made it home safely :)

Tomorrow (well today as I'm writing this), is our orientation day. So we'll meet everyone in our program at 6pm in the city center. I met a guy this morning in our dorm upstairs from Colorado (Kendra, he's from Denver, though I wish he would've said Ft. Collins).

So more to come!
