Monday was my mom's last day in Madrid, so we did last minute errands, getting me a new Sim card so I could have a local Spanish number (on my FB), and we FINALLY, met Daisy. Daisy is from the Houston area as well and is awesome! She's a bit older than me (28) but she's a lot of fun. We're actually quite similar. I met her dad, and her younger brother Alberto (26), who will be up north for a year. Her dad and my mom were like on the same page about safety, wanting to come along and help us move in, and that they love to take pictures of food. Her family owns a Mexican restaurant in Houston that I'm going to try out when I get back. We basically chatted while walking down to Sol (city center) and decided to eat at Pasta Nostra again (the day before we found another delicious place O Cacho near the Spanish theater in Plaza Santa Ana). They loved the food and we were talking for a while just getting to know each other. I took a pic so I'll put that up.
It was nice to finally meet her and know who I'd be living with for a few months. I think this will work out fine. After our dinner, we just HAD to show them the Chocolateria (don't judge) and they loved it. They said the churros in Mexico were a bit different, but they liked the fluffiness of the Spanish churros. We parted ways so I could grab my things from my mom's hotel room and then she walked me to my dorm where we said goodbye. She had an early flight (6 am the next day) so she didn't sleep.
This was it. Madrid for 4 months. No turning back now :)
